CUSTOM MADE FOOTBEDS
Altberg use two main orthotic footbed suppliers. Superfeet and Conform'able. Superfeet and Conformable footbeds are used to stabilize the foot - or encourage the foot onto a more neutrl alignment so that successfull custom made boots can be fitted. Superfeet footbeds and Conform'able footbeds differ significantly and Altberg use these "off the shelf" orthotic footbeds where they suit most appropriately.

a) Superfeet footbeds:- These orthotic footbeds are generally more supportive and Superfeet footbeds are especially suitable for narrower fitting custom made boots and bespoke footwear. Superfeet footbeds come in various types:-
Green Superfeet footbeds - These are suitable for most walking boots and are also suitable in military boots, police boots and motorcycle boots where there is already a footbed that can be removed.
Blue Superfeet footbeds - These have the same "off the shelf" properties as the green Superfeet footbeds in that they are an orthotic footbed however these are more suitable for closer fitting custom made boots or bespoke footwear where there is not a removeable footbed.
Black Superfeet footbeds - More suitable for wide fitting custom made boots where there is not a removeable footbed. Same orthotic footbed qualities and often used in sports shoes and bespoke footwear for everyday use.
Grey Superfeet footbeds - Ladies fitting for bespoke footwear with up to 1.5 inch heels - these Superfeet footbeds suit low volume custom made boots.
Winter green Superfeet footbeds - high insulation - suitable for winter bespoke footwear and custom made boots with high insulation properties - skiing or snowboarding uses these Superfeet footbeds - orthotic footbed properties suit medium to higher arched feet.
Dress fit Superfeet footbeds - Designed by podiatrists for use in everyday bespoke footwear or custom made boots and shoes - ¾ length.

b)Conform'able footbeds:- This is the second main orthotic footbed supplier that Altberg bespoke bootmakers use in their custom made boots or made to measure footwear. There are three levels of Conformable footbeds.
Motion TR Conform'able footbeds - Uses an orthotic footbed windlass 3 shape, this Conformable footbed has all the usual orthotic footbed properties but also is an excellent shock absorbant footbed. Altberg often use this Conform'able footbed in their custom made military boots or bespoke footwear which is wide fitting. The Motion TR Conform'able footbed is only suitable in a custom made boot where there is already a footbed which can be removed.
Wind blue Conform'able footbeds - Has the same orthotic footbed windlass 3D shape and heel shock absorbing footbed properties. Altberg bespoke bootmakers use in their custom made boots or in lower volume bespoke footwear. the arch on the Conform'able footbed "gives" a little compared with the Superfeet footbeds - so this is a good orthotic footbed for military boots and police boots where running maybe required.
Wind grey Conform'able footbeds - This "step-in" Conform'able footbed can be used in most walking boots, military boots, police boots or motorcycle boots - it is a good general use "off the shelf" orthotic footbed. This Conform'able footbed is used by the Altberg bespoke bootmakers in many of their custom made boots to improve the stability of the foot whilst still allowing the foot to lengthen during the day.

Bespoke bootmakers will make custom made boots or made to measure boots as part of their bespoke footwear service - stabilising the foot is an integral part of their custom fitted boots service. It is only when Superfeet footbeds or Conform'able footbeds are used to achieve foot stabilisation that custom made boots or bespoke footwear can be successfully fitted.
