We are a British company and we manufacture boots in two factories in Yorkshire and Italy
Our home factory is in Richmond, North Yorkshire and our second factory is in the Treviso region of Northern Italy. The senior Alt-Berg bootmaker shares his time between both factories, which use the same lasts, materials and manufacturing processes.

We are proud to carry forward a great tradition of bootmaking, and our footwear has been used in some of the harshest conditions on the planet - from the tough mountain terrain of Northern Afghanistan to the Ecuardorian Jungles, from the Himalayan Mountains, to the Munroes of Scotland - we engineer our boots for performance across a wide range of conditions.
We make boots for Police, Military, Motorcyclists, Walkers, Gamekeepers and Travellers
Alt-Berg have been supplying UK Police Forces and the UK MOD for over 15 years, and we make a range of CE Approved footwear for specialist and occupational use. We have developed a small network of independent retailers, with established, excellent bootfitters, to sell our range of 5 width fitting walking boots around the UK (see stockists section) and our motorcycle boots are available direct from our Richmond factory, and one other London based retailer.

At our factory in Richmond, we have a range of lasts to suit various foot shapes - in addition, through our network of Premier Retailers, we offer our tried and tested system of 5 width fittings in UK full and half sizes from 3, to 14. We also offer a fitting service at our factory in Richmond, where we can custom fit boots where necessary. We operate a made to measure service for people who cannot achieve a good fit using our range of lasts, and customising - see our fitting section for more details.
