Boot Fitting Advice & Options

ALL ALTBERG PREMIER RETAILERS HAVE BEEN TRAINED AT THE ALTBERG FACTORY ON BOOT FITTING AND BOOT MAKING

"We have 4 choices of foot shapes (lasts). AForme which is based on running athletic shoe shapes, GFit which is for very high volume feet, SFit which is specifically for shoes, and our 5 Width fitting system which was developed in our factory many years ago. It is the classic English system, and comprises English sizes 3-15 (including half sizes), together with 5 width fitting volumes. A total of 115 different fittings!"

Our Premier retailers may not have all sizes in all styles in stock - it would be impossible to stock so many boots. However, most Premier Retailers carry a good selection of styles. If the retailer does not have the boot you require ‘in stock’, then they may check for you, directly with the factory about availability.

HIKING BOOT PREMIER RETAILER FITTING SERVICE

what to expect from one of our premier retailers

Step 1

Using a Brannock device the boot fitter will measure foot length semi-weighted (sitting), and also weighted (standing) if necessary.

Step 2

Using a centimetre measuring tape the boot fitter will measure the circumference around the widest part of the forefoot (metatarsal heads). They may do this twice; unweighted - sitting and weighted - standing.

Step 3

The boot fitter will compare measurements with the fitting chart and may offer a choice of nearest fittings for the customer to consider. NOTE - final choice and decision always remains with the customer.

Trying Boots on

The boots are tested for fit first by simply walking around the shop and then on a sloping ramp.

SVARTZ FOOTBED UPGRADE OPTION

CHOICE OF SOCKS

Altberg recommends good quality Merino® wool socks. Merino® is best quality wool which will breathe and absorb to enhance all day comfort. Check socks regularly to ensure they are still well padded and absorbent.
