Nordkapp Boot

3 Season Hill Walking Boot

Based on the tried and tested Altberg Tethera. The Nordkapp is a classic 3 season hill walking boot, suitable for Lakeland Fells and the Scottish hills. The upper is a seamless one piece construction, made from first grade Italian Nubuk, backed up by a Sympatex® waterproof lining. Added protection to the upper comes from a full rubber rand with increased height around the toe. The underfoot support comes from a polypropylene midsole with a level 3 flex and gives excellent torsional support and stability underfoot.

The main difference between the Tethera and Nordkapp is the fitting (last). The Nordkapp is made on the A-Forme® foot shape, which has an asymmetric forefoot, increased toe spring and a narrower heel.

DRY/MODERATE CONDITIONS

  • Allow boots to dry very slowly – if in hot conditions put a damp cloth over the boots to slow down the rate of drying
  • Spray all over with Leder-BökⓇ
  • Spray twice into stitched seams and areas where boot flexes
  • Use of Leder-BökⓇ may darken the Nubuk, but breathability of the boot will be sustained

WET CONDITIONS

  • If your priority is to keep the boots water resistant then you can use Leder-GrisⓇ all over the boot
  • The use of Leder-GrisⓇ will change the appearance of the Nubuk significantly to a darker more shiny full grain leather appearance
  • Once you have used Leder-GrisⓇ then you must continue to do so – you cannot restore the Nubuk to the original appearance

All Altberg boots can be resoled at the factory, using the original lasts.  It is very important that resoling is carried out on the original lasts – the last helps the boot keep it’s shape, and correct fitting during the resole process.  It also enables the new sole to be pressed correctly, so the bonding of the sole to the upper takes place evenly over the whole of the sole and the sole edge.
